In a rally held on Sunday in Istanbul, Turkey, researcher Muhammed Emin Yildirim delivered a speech urging action in relation to Gaza. Calling on Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Yildirim said, “The time for speaking has ended; we have to say something concrete.”
At the same rally organised by the Humanitarian Relief Foundation (IHH), the head of the organisation, Bulent Yildirim, announced that the organisation would lead a naval fleet towards Gaza to break Israel's siege. Yildirim participated in the Gaza Freedom Flotilla in 2010. The boat he was on was boarded by Israeli troops, and nine pro-Palestinian activists were killed at the time.
