AMERICA'S HOLY CRUSADE AGAINST THE MUSLIM WORLD
MOST US MUSLIMS EXPERIENCED RELIGIOUS DISCRIMINATION IN 2016: POLL
The majority of Muslim Americans experienced religious discrimination during 2016, and many said they feared for their own or their family’s safety from hate groups following the election US President Donald Trump, a new poll has revealed. One-fifth of American Muslims say they had made plans to leave the US if it became necessary, according to the poll released Tuesday by the Institute for Social Policy and Understanding think tank.
The poll, which surveyed 800 Muslims from January 4 to 23, compared their responses with those of people of other faiths and the US population in general.
Some 60 percent of Muslims reported personally experiencing religious discrimination in the past year, compared with 17 percent of the general US population, the poll found.
Over a third said they feared for their own or their family’s safety and 42 percent also said their children had experienced bullying at school in the previous year.
Trump’s hateful comments and actions directed at Muslims has perpetuated that fear, said Zainab Chaudry, a spokeswoman for the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR).
“We saw that taper off after the first couple weeks after the election but the concern, the anxiety and fear, is still very real,” Chaudry said at a panel announcing the report.

Trump’s controversial executive order banning travelers from several Muslim-majority countries and appointing advisers who hold anti-Islamic views has further spread Islamophobia across the US and increased hate crimes against Muslims.
“There’s been more than 15 years of propaganda, miseducation campaigns, to convince the American public that Islam is inherently evil and violent and that Muslims should be associated with terrorism and fear in their communities,” Charles Haynes, founding director of the Newseum Institute’s Religious Freedom Center, said Tuesday.
“Even in the corridors of power now, this narrative, this propaganda which used to be on the fringe has moved into the center, and it’s now mainstream,” Haynes added.

KICKING OUT ISLAMOPHOBIA-
IS LIVERPOOL SHOWING THE WAY FORWARD?
MOHAMED SALAH A GIFT FROM ALLAH
https://www.trtworld.com/opinion/-mohamed-salah-a-gift-from-allah--17733
The latest chant from Liverpool fans jubilant about their historic European Champions League run is a validation of the extraordinary contribution to the club’s success by an exceptionally down-to-earth Muslim player. Who could have imagined at the start of this year’s Premier League football season in England that come May, an Egyptian footballer from very humble beginnings would have taken the world by storm, breaking a host of records along the way? But that is exactly what has happened, with plenty more to come. Back in August 2017 when the English football season was starting, many fans were sceptical of how Mohamed ‘Mo’ Salah, Liverpool FC’s then record signing for a fee of 50 million Dollars, would fare. Mismanaged under José Mourinho at Chelsea and only showing sparks of brilliance at AS Roma, Liverpool fans were wary of what he could achieve at Anfield.
A remarkable season of records and triumphs
But how he proved his doubters wrong. Salah has had arguably the best debut season of any player in the history of the club. Some of the highlights of his explosive debut season include: scoring the most ever goals (32) in a 38-game FA Premier League season; winning the FA Premier League Golden Boot for scoring the most goals this season (despite being a winger and not an out-and-out striker); being voted the Professional Footballers Association (PFA) and Football Writers Association (FWA) Player of the Year as well as the Liverpool Football Club, EA Sports, and FA Premier League Footballer of the Season, and of course winning the PFA Fan’s Player of the Year award. He also won the Confederation of African Football and BBC African Footballer of the year and is a contender for the Ballon d’Or, the most prestigious individual prize in world football.
On top of all this, he has pretty much single-handedly assured Egypt of their first appearance in a World Cup finals since Italia ‘90 with a miraculous performance in their final qualifying game. And if that was not enough he won a boatload of votes in Egypt’s presidential election, with some reports stating that it numbered more than a million (by dint of spoilt ballot papers in which people wrote his name and sketched a picture of a football beside it) - coming second only to the president himself.
He even managed to get a fatwa extolling his virtues from a popular Islamic scholar in the UK. At the age of 25, he has proved himself as a worthy successor to the likes of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo and is already rivalling their popularity. “I just want to play football”. His footballing achievements are famous, but what sets him apart is his striking humility in a profession bloated with cash and egos that is better known for feeding vice than it is for enabling acts of self-sacrifice and compassion. But not Salah. He simply wants to get on with the game and win for the team. “I don’t have tattoos, I don’t change hairstyles, I don’t know how to dance. I just want to play football,” is one of his most notable quotes of the season, and that is exactly what he has done, winning the hearts and minds of countless fans around the world in the process.
Moreover, he has anonymously donated huge amounts of money to charities and hospitals on the quiet and is very keen on donating his shirts and boots to young fans after most matches. An observant Muslim, Salah has succeeded in displaying the very best example of his faith. While he may not be winning converts (although there are reports of quite a few people embracing Islam as a result of his success) a huge number of fans have developed a great respect for the religion as a result of their love for one of its adherents. This is a man who celebrates scoring a goal with a simple prostration of thanks to his God, who, out of respect and gratitude, refuses to celebrate when he plays against a former team, and who even apologises to goalkeepers for the embarrassment they face when he scores a large number of goals against them.
A Gift
It is no surprise then that in a packed pub in the city of Rome earlier this month, just before the semi-final of the European Champions League that would see Liverpool progress to their first final for 12 years, non-Muslim Liverpool fans were chanting the following:
“Mohamed Salah, a gift from Allah.
He came from Roma, to Liverpool.
He’s always scoring, it’s almost boring.
So please don’t take Mohamed away.”
The video of this went viral, and for good reason: with his dedication, diligence, selflessness and sincerity, Salah had succeeded in winning the love of the fans of arguably the finest football club in the history of the game. Years of racism and anti-Muslim sentiment was of no consequence today; Mo was one of their own.
The Finale
So what does this weekend’s Champions League final versus the legendary Real Madrid hold in store for Mo? The spectacle of Salah celebrating a goal at the world’s most prestigious club cup-final with his trademark sajdah in the middle of the holy month of Ramadan would be a unique event in the history of sport and something special for Muslims all over the world.
Millions of fans will be on edge to see how he performs in what could well be the biggest game of his career. But we know one thing for sure: faith was what drove the humble boy of very modest means from the village of Nagrig in Egypt to silence his doubters and reach the very highest stage in world football. He is somebody that has never compromised on his faith, and his faith is what has guided his success.
It will not let him down now.

COULD MIGRATION ISSUE MAKE OR BREAK THE EU?
Inside Story
The numbers of refugees and migrants arriving in Europe has been reduced to a trickle in recent years, yet the issue continues to drive polarizing politics in the EU. A controversial proposal to set up asylum seeker processing centres in Northern Africa
GERMANY’s PLAN TO CREATE REFUGEE DETENTION CENTERS IS A DISASTER
MEDITERRANEAN SEA – THE LARGEST GRAVE YARD IN MODERN HISTORY
Peter Koenig
Information Clearing House
In June 2018 alone, more than 500 refugees drowned in the Mediterranean Sea. Their boats were refused access to land in either Malta, or Italy. They were force-driven back by gun-boats to the North African shores they came from, mostly Libya, but many boats capsized and countless refugees didn’t make it.
These are de facto murders, high crimes against humanity, committed by the very European Union. The same “leaders” (criminals, rather), whose forebears are known to have raped, exploited, tortured, ravaged peoples and their lands of Asia, Africa, Latin America over the past 1000 years of abject colonization. Europeans have it in their genes – to be inhuman. This can possibly be extended to the ‘superior’ greedy white race in general. At least to those who make it to political or corporate high office in the formidable EU or exceptional US, or to those who appoint themselves into the European Commission. We should call them “The Heartless Bunch”. This is the so-called West, now led by the United States of America – basically the British empire transplanted across the Atlantic, where they felt safer between two shining seas, than as a rickety island in the Atlantic, just in front of the enormous, contiguous land mass called Eurasia. The Old Continent, alias Europe, was given by the new trans-Atlantic empire, the new masters of the universe, a subservient role. And that was in the making for at least the last 100 years, when the new empire started weakening Europe, with two World Wars.
Today’s European (EU) leaders are puppets put in place by the Atlantist elites, to make sure that the rather educated Europeans do not go on the barricades, that they are debilitated regularly by free market corporatism creating unemployment, taking their hard worked-for social safety nets away, saturating them with fake news – and gradually oppressing them with growing police states, with a massive militarization – and finally using the articulately planned flood of refugees from the very US-EU-NATO destroyed countries – destroyed economically and by wars – as a further destabilizing weapon. Greece should serve as a vivid example of what’s really going on and is planned, starting with “inferior” southern EU states, those bordering on the strategic and economically important sea way – the Mediterranean Sea.
You think I’m crazy? – Start thinking again and connect the dots.
The refugee death toll in the Med-Sea in 2017 was about 3,200, 40% down from 2016, and more than 600 up to end of April 2018, and another more than 500 in June. This figure is bound to increase drastically, given the European closed-border policy – and more. The EU is contracting among others, the Libyan Coast Guard with gun boats to chase refugee vessels back to the Libyan shores, many sink – and saving those thrown into the sea is ‘forbidden’ – they are simply left to die. That’s the rule. Malta, a little island-appendix to Brussels, but important as a refugee transit, has issued strict bans on private fisher boats and NGOs trying to rescue refugees. As a consequence, the by now well-known “Lifeline” boat with 330 refugees – miserably poor, sick, desperate people – struggling for sheer survival, many with small kids, who wanted nothing more than their children to have a better life – was rejected by Malta, turned back into the sea, under guidance of NATO and EU hired military-type private contractor gun-boats. Malta has a Partnership for Peace (PfP) Agreement with NATO, i.e. obeys NATO orders. NATO, a killer organization, has, of course, not a shred of humanity in its structure, nor in the blood of the people at its helm – anywhere in the world.
Imagine – in this context, an EU summit took place at the end of June 2018 to “arrange” and agree on how to handle the refugee crisis in the future, in other swords, how to keep them out of Europe. None of the countries, other than Germany, were even considering accepting some of these poor souls out of sheer humanitarian reasons, to give them shelter, food and medication. The discussion even considered where to build a wall – yes fences were discussed to keep them out – Europe a xenophobic free-port for the rich, acting in questions of migration as a carbon copy of Trump. They deserve each other, Trump and Brussels, trade wars not withstanding – let them shred each other to pieces.
Well, this almost happened during, before and after the now-called “mini-summit”, with Madame Merkel almost losing her Chancellor’s job, as she, against all odds, represented the most humanitarian view of all the 28 neolibs. This did not go down well with her partner party, the ultra-conservative Bavarian CSU. Calls for her resignation abounded. The German Interior Minister, Horst Seehofer, was about to resign over Merkel’s alleged refugee ‘generosity’ – in which case the highly fragile right-left coalition would have collapsed – and who knows how Germany may have continued to govern. Perhaps new elections would have had to be called, and then only god knows what might have happened. The empire could not allow this uncertainty to prevail, because Washington needs Germany as the chief-slave driver to lead Europe into total disarray and serfdom. It worked. Germany is alive and saved – and ticking.
Instead, the European refugee / migrant policy is in shambles. The EU are literally out to kill refugees, as a means of dissuasion? – Mass-murder as a means of discouraging the desperate to seek shelter in those very countries that were instrumental in destroying their livelihoods, their families, their towns, their infrastructure, their education and health facilities – their youth? Generations of young Middle Eastern and African people are gone, destroyed.
Did these high-ranking EU officials in Brussels mention their own huge responsibility for the refugee floods with one single word? – No, of course not. Not with one breath. Has the conscience in one single head of these fake, neolibs-neonazis, as it were, self-serving EU heads of state been awakened by this very fact of guilt for what they are to confront? – Has it caused sleepless nights? I doubt it. They are far from this level of human compassion, they are monsters.
Then, there was and is Italy, with her strange new coalition, a coalition of convenience. The leftish 5-Star Movement in alliance with the right-wing Lega Norte, selling their human conscience to be able to reign, giving away their responsibility for migration to the xenophobic, narcissistic, and yes, close to fascist Lega Norte – which is adamant not to receive migrants. They would boycott any result that would force Italy to take in refugees, or even build border transit camps. In the end, they reached a toothless agreement; a non-agreement, rather; an accord that obliged none of the parties to do anything. Everything is voluntary. Period. And Macron said that this was the best refugee summit the EU ever had. So much for dismal brainlessness.
All was voluntary. The only agreement they could book for themselves, is to build refugee camps in North African countries for the shipped-back survivors. Fortunately, every North African country, from Egypt to Tunisia, Algeria, and Morocco said no. Having seen what happened in such literal slave camps in Libya, they had at least the compassion for these desperate human beings to prevent this from reoccurring. Compassion, a term, a feeling or sensation, the Europeans are devoid of.
However, no Israeli- Trump- Brussels-type wall or barbed-wire fence will keep the desperate in their economically, or by war, or western terrorism destroyed countries. The west, and only the west, is responsible for the endless destructive chaos, torture and lawlessness in these nations that the west wants to dominate, for myriad reasons – to steal their energy, minerals; for their strategic location, and finally on the way to total full spectrum world hegemony. This, the west will not achieve. That’s for sure. Evil will not prevail in the long run. Darkness will eventually cede to light. That’s the way nature works. But on its way to collapse, Evil will maim and kill millions of lives. Countless children will have no future, no parents, no education, no health services, no drinking water. They will be made to slaves as a means for their survival, to be raped and exploited or eventually killed. The European crime is of infinite dimension and nobody sees it, let alone stops it.
IMMIGRATION: WESTERN WARS AND IMPERIAL EXPLOITATION UPROOT MILLIONS
“Immigration” has become the dominant issue dividing Europe and the US, yet the most important matter which is driving millions to emigrate is overlooked – wars.
In this paper we will discuss the reasons behind the massification of immigration, focusing on several issues, namely (1) imperial wars (2) multi-national corporate expansion (3) the decline of the anti-war movements in the US and Western Europe (4) the weakness of the trade union and solidarity movements.
We will proceed by identifying the major countries affected by US and EU wars leading to massive immigration, and then turn to the western powers forcing refugees to ‘follow’ the flows of profits.
Imperial Wars and Mass Immigration
The US invasions and wars in Afghanistan and Iraq uprooted several million people, destroying their lives, families, livelihood, housing and communities and undermining there security. As a result, most victims faced the choice of resistance or flight. Millions chose to flee to the West since the NATO countries would not bomb their residence in the US or Europe. Others who fled to neighboring countries in the Middle East or Latin America were persecuted, or resided in countries too poor to offer them employment or opportunities for a livelihood. Some Afghans fled to Pakistan or the Middle East but discovered that these regions were also subject to armed attacks from the West. Iraqis were devastated by the western sanctions, invasion and occupation and fled to Europe and to a lesser degree the US , the Gulf states and Iran.
Libya prior to the US-EU invasion was a ‘receiver’ country accepting and employing millions of Africans, providing them with citizenship and a decent livelihood. After the US-EU air and sea attack and arming and financing of terrorist gangs, hundreds of thousands of Sub-Sahara immigrants were forced to flee to Europe. Most crossed the Mediterranean Sea to the west via Italy, Spain, and headed toward the affluent European countries which had savaged their lives in Libya.
The US-EU financed and armed client terrorist armies which assault the Syrian government and forced millions of Syrians to flee across the border to Lebanon,Turkey and beyond to Europe, causing the so-called ‘immigration crises’ and the rise of rightwing anti-immigrant parties. This led to divisions within the established social democratic and conservative parties,as sectors of the working class turned anti-immigrant.
Europe is reaping the consequences of its alliance with US militarized imperialism whereby the US uproots millions of people and the EU spends billions of euros to cover the cost of immigrants fleeing the western wars. Most of the immigrants’ welfare payments fall far short of the losses incurred in their homeland. Their jobs homes, schools, and civic associations in the EU and US are far less valuable and accommodating then what they possessed in their original communities.
Economic Imperialism and Immigration: Latin America
US wars, military intervention and economic exploitation has forced millions of Latin Americans to immigrate to the US.. Nicaragua, El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras engaged in popular struggle for socio-economic justice and political democracy between 1960 – 2000. On the verge of victory over the landed oligarchs and multinational corporations, Washington blocked popular insurgents by spending billions of dollars, arming, training, advising the military and paramilitary forces. Land reform was aborted; trade unionists were forced into exile and thousands of peasants fled the marauding terror campaigns.
The Age of Imperial Wars
The US-backed oligarchic regimes forced millions of displaced and uprooted pr unemployed and landless workers to flee to the US . US supported coups and dictators resulted in 50,000 in Nicaragua, 80,000 in El Salvador and 200,000 in Guatemala. President Obama and Hillary Clinton supported a military coup in Honduras which overthrew Liberal President Zelaya— which led to the killing and wounding of thousands of peasant activists and human rights workers, and the return of death squads, resulting in a new wave of immigrants to the US. The US promoted free trade agreement (NAFTA) drove hundreds of thousands of Mexican farmers into bankruptcy and into low wage maquiladoras; others were recruited by drug cartels; but the largest group was forced to immigrate across the Rio Grande.
The US ‘Plan Colombia’ launched by President Clinton established seven US military bases in Colombia and provided 1 billion dollars in military aid between 2001 – 2010. Plan Colombia doubled the size of the military. The US backed President Alvaro Uribe, resulting in the assassination of over 200,000 peasants, trade union activists and human rights workers by Uribe directed narco-death squad. Over two million farmers fled the countryside and immigrated to the cities or across the border US business secured hundreds of thousands of Latin American low wages, agricultural and factory workers almost all without health insurance or benefits – though the paid taxes. Immigration doubled profits, undermined collective bargains and lowered US wages. Unscrupulous US ‘entrepreneurs’ recruited immigrants into drugs, prostitution, the arms trade and money laundering. Politicians exploited the immigration issue for political gain – blaming the immigrants for the decline of working class living standards distracting attention from the real source: wars, invasions, death squads and economic pillage.
Conclusion
Having destroyed the lives of working people overseas and overthrown progressive leaders like Libyan President Gadhafi and Honduran President Zelaya, millions were forced to become immigrants. Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria, Colombia, Mexico witnessed the flight of millions of immigrants — all victims of US and EU wars. Washington and Brussels blamed the victims and accused the immigrants of illegality and criminal conduct . The West debates expulsion, arrest and jail instead of reparations for crimes against humanity and violations of international law. To restrain immigration the first step is to end imperial wars, withdraw troops, and to cease financing paramilitary and client terrorists. Secondly, the West should establish a long term multi-billion-dollar fund for reconstruction and recovery of the economies, markets and infrastructure they bombed.
The demise of the peace movement allowed the US and EU to launch and prolong serial wars which led to massive immigration – the so-called refugee crises and the flight to Europe. There is a direct connection between the conversion of the liberal and social democrats to war -parties and the forced flight of immigrants to the EU.
The decline of the trade unions and worse, their loss of militancy has led to the loss of solidarity with people living in the midst of imperial wars. Many workers in the imperialist countries have directed their ire to those ‘below’ – the immigrants, – rather than to the imperialists who directed the wars which created the immigration problem.
Immigration, war , the demise of the peace and workers movements, and left parties has led to the rise of the militarists and neo-liberals who have taken power throughout the West. Their anti-immigrant politics, however, has provoked new contradictions within regimes, between business elites and among popular movements in the EU and the US. The elite and popular struggles can go in at least two directions – toward fascism or radical social democracy.
NEOCOLONIALISM AND "MIGRANTS CRISIS”
Manlio Dinucci
www.globalresearch.ca/neocolonialism-and-migrants-crisis/5645703
From the United States to Europe, the “migrant crisis” is causing bitter interior and international controversy about the policies which need to be adopted concerning the migrant flow. However, these movements are being represented by a cliché which is the opposite of reality – that of the “rich countries” obliged to suffer the growing migratory pressure of the “poor countries”. This misrepresentation hides its basic cause – the world economic system which enables a restricted minority to accumulate wealth at the expense of the growing majority, by impoverishing them and thus provoking forced emigration.
As concerns the migrant flow towards the United States, the case of Mexico is emblematic. Its agricultural production collapsed when, with the NAFTA (North American Free Trade Agreement), the USA and Canada flooded the Mexican market with low-cost agricultural products, thanks to their own public subsidies. Millions of agricultural workers found themselves without jobs, thereby increasing the work pool recruited by the “maquiladoras” – thousands of industrial establishments along the frontier, in Mexican territory, possessed or controlled, for the most part, by United States companies, where salaries are very low and trade union rights inexistent.
In a country where approximately half of the population lives in poverty, this situation has increased the mass of people who want to enter the United States. This is the origin of the Wall along the border with Mexico, which was begun by the Democrat President Clinton in 1994 when the NAFTA came into effect, pursued by the Republican Bush, reinforced by the Democrat Obama, the same wall that the Republican Trump now hopes to complete along all 3,000 kilometres of the border.
Concerning the migratory flow towards Europe, the case of Africa is emblematic. The continent is rich in raw materials – gold, platinum, diamonds, uranium, coltan (or tantalite), copper, oil, natural gas, precious woods, cocoa, coffee and many others. These resources, once exploited by the old European colonialist system with slave-type methods, are today being exploited by European neo-colonialism in collaboration with the African elites in power, a low-cost local work force, and interior and international control of the market-place.
More than one hundred companies listed at the London Stock Exchange, British and others, exploit the mineral resources of 37 sub-Saharan African countries for a value of more than 1,000 billion dollars. France controls the monetary system of 14 African ex-colonies via the CFA Franc (originally the acronym of the “Colonies Françaises d’Afrique”, now recycled as “Communauté Financière Africaine”). In order to conserve parity with the Euro, these 14 African countries are obliged to pay the French Treasury half of their monetary reserves.
The Libyan state, which sought to create an autonomous African currency, was demolished by the war of 2011. In the Ivory Coast (CFA region), French companies control the greater part of the commercialisation of cocoa, of which the country is the world’s top producer – the little producers are left with hardly 5% of the value of the end product, such that most of them live in poverty. These are only a few examples of the neo-colonial exploitation of the continent.
Africa, presented as being dependent on foreign aid, in fact pays foreign countries a net annual forfeit of about 58 billion dollars. The social consequences are devastating. In sub-Saharan Africa, where the population is greater than one billion souls, and is composed of 60% children and young people between the ages of 0 and 24 years old, about two thirds of the inhabitants live in poverty and amongst these, about 40% – which is to say 400 million – live in conditions of extreme poverty. The “migrant crisis” is in reality the crisis of an unsustainable economic and social system.

AN UNLIKELY UNION : ISRAEL AND THE EUROPEAN FAR RIGHT
Israel has been engaging far-right groups and parties across Europe, ignoring their anti-Semitism.
Ramzy Baroud & Romana Rubeo
https://www.aljazeera.com/indepth/opinio...52930.html
Israel's Netanyahu had paid a visit to Hungary in 2017, right in the middle of a political storm caused by the Hungarian President Viktor Orban's remarks that were deemed anti-Semitic [Reuters]
In November 2017, the Zionist Organization of America (ZOA) hosted a gala dinner in New York City honouring Stephen Bannon, US President Donald Trump's then-chief strategist.
That Bannon and his media outlet Breitbart News were, and still are, seen by many as anti-Semitic was of no consequence to Zionist leaders from the US and Israel, who were in attendance.
There were, however, some critical voices from within the Jewish community who denounced the ZOA for its decision to invite Bannon. One of them was former Jerusalem Post editor-in-chief Bret Stephens, who dedicated a column in the New York Times on the issue.
"Just as there are anti-Zionist Jews, there are also anti-Semitic Zionists," Stephens wrote. He then went on to condemn Bannon's indirect link to neo-Nazi Richard Spencer who, according to Stephens, advocates a "factitious theory that Israel is the sort of ethno-nationalist state he'd like to see America become."
While Stephens was right to be outraged about the gala dinner, he is wrong to claim that Israel is not an ethnonationalist state.
Just recently, the Israeli government endorsed the Nation-State Bill, which among many racist provisions, calls for the establishment of Jewish-only towns. This bill alone should be enough to settle the silly debate on whether Israel can be both a Jewish nation-state and a democracy.
But relations between Israel and its lobby groups and racist, neo-Nazi and fascist organisations go way deeper than a one-off gala dinner with Steve Bannon. In fact, in Europe, Israel is actively pursuing alliances with far-right groups and parties as a state policy.
Embracing the far right from Italy to Ukraine
"Israel's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, President [Reuven] Rivlin, his predecessor, President [Shimon] Peres, and the former Knesset Speaker all refused to meet members of extreme European right-wing parties and called on all Israeli parties to refrain from such meetings," reported the Jewish American newspaper Forward last March.
But members of the Likud partyhaven't followed suit. During the Ariel Sharon government in the early 2000s, Italian post-fascist Gianfranco Fini paid a visit to Israel.
At that time Fini, the leader of the Movimento Sociale Italiano (Italian Social Movement), the ideological successor of the anti-Semitic Fascist Party, was trying to rebrand his movement.
He started by changing the name to the "National Alliance" and then, to solidify its new image, he embarked on a trip to Israel, in the company of Amos Luzzatto, the head of the Italian Jewish community.
Today, the National Alliance is long gone, as it was dismantled under the pressure of its own corruption and multiple scandals. However, the constituency that brought the National Alliance to prominence mobilised in full force in this year's elections in Italy and voted for the far-right League Party under the leadership of the current Italian Interior Minister Matteo Salvini.
Unsurprisingly, Salvini too went through the same political baptism by Israel as Fini did. In March 2016, he paid a visit to Tel Aviv to launch his political career. "Israel embodies the perfect balance of different realities, while ensuring law and order. It surely is a role model for security and anti-terrorism policies," he said during his trip.
At the Karim Abu Salem crossing between Israel and Gaza, Salvini condemned the Palestinian resistance movement, Hamas, while announcing the League's "readiness to be part of the government of Italy".
To the north of Italy, the far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD) party has also registered remarkable electoral success. And it, too, is establishing solid ties with Israel, despite its racist views. "[T]he party derided for anti-Semitic, xenophobic views redolent of the Nazis is also staunchly supportive of Israel,
" reported the Times of Israel. "[It is] one of a number of right-wing populist parties in Europe that have tried to make common cause with Israel's tough stance toward terror and self-styled position as a forward bulwark against Islamic extremism."
Last April, the anti-Muslim, anti-Semitic AfD, enthusiastically launched a campaign pushing for the recognition of Jerusalem as Israel's capital, despite PM Angela Merkel's opposition to it.
Israel has also reached out to Hungarian PM Viktor Orban who for the past few years has been leading a vicious political campaign against the Jewish Hungarian American financier, George Soros. Accusations of anti-Semitism against Orban and his party did not deter PM Benjamin Netanyahu from visiting him in Budapest in July last year.
But the move that perhaps best illustrates where Israel is headed in its support for the far right in the West is its decision to arm the Azov battalion, a neo-Nazi paramilitary organisation in Ukraine. Human rights activists recently petitioned the High Court of Justice in Israel to stop the government from selling weapons to such groups after their appeal to the Israeli defence ministry produced no response.
Why is Israel allying with the far right?
Indeed, Israel's embrace of far-right movements is now the defining Israeli attitude towards European politics, in general. This Israeli strategy, of course, has its own logic. During his July 2017 visit to Budapest, Netanyahu met leaders from the so-called "Visegrad Group", which includes Hungary, Poland, the Czech Republic and Slovakia.
There, he hoped to find new allies that he can use to exert pressure on the rest of the EU. In an audio recording obtained by Reuters, Netanyahu derided "Old Europe" for daring to criticise Israel's dismal human rights record, illegal settlement policies and military occupation. "I think Europe has to decide whether it wants to live and thrive or it wants to shrivel and disappear," he said.
Netanyahu needs new ways to pressure Europe because pro-Palestinian policies and attitudes are slowly but steadily entering mainstream politics, as grassroots groups are becoming increasingly outraged by Israeli crimes against Palestinians.
Israel's fear of Europe abandoning its Zionist cause could be seen in recent Israeli official reactions. On July 12, Israeli Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman called
for the "immediate" closure of his country's embassy in Dublin, after the upper house of the Irish parliament voted in favour of a bill that could boycott Israeli products manufactured in illegal Jewish settlements in the Occupied Palestinian Territories.
Around the same time, EU Ambassador in Tel Aviv Emanuele Giaufret condemned the Nation-State Bill saying, "The law stinks of racism, and it discriminates against various groups, particularly Arabs." The Israeli government responded by accusing the EU of interfering in its "internal affairs". The Israeli government seems intent on weakening Europe by investing in existing divisions and offering political validation to groups that, until recently, were on the political fringes. It hopes that a divided Europe will be more easily controlled and coaxed back into Israel's loyalty camp.
It remains to be seen whether Israel's embrace of far-right, neo-Nazi and fascist Europe will pay off, the way its government hopes for, or whether it would backfire exposing it for what it truly is: an ethnonationalist state with no interest in true democracy and equality.

THE MESUT OZIL CASE IS AN OPPORTUNITY FOR MUSLIMS IN EUROPE
https://www.trtworld.com/opinion/the-mes...rope-19193
Mesut Ozil's statement and his resignation from the German national football team has triggered one of the biggest debates on racism and integration in Germany. The Mesut Ozil case is a watershed in Germany, a fatal signal to millions of young people with a migrant background. This case reinforces their feelings of not being welcome in Germany. If even a national football player and world champion is exposed to racism and does not receive support from politicians, society and the German Football Association, many ask themselves: what should we do to be accepted as full members of this society?
For young Muslims in Germany, the feelings of exclusion are especially acute. They feel disadvantaged not only because of their origin, but also because of their religion. In his letter of resignation Mesut Ozil asks whether there are criteria for being German, which he does not fulfil.
"My friends Lukas Podolski and Miroslav Klose are never called German-Polish, so why am I German-Turkish? Is it because it is Turkey? Is it because I'm a Muslim?"
What Ozil says in his resignation statement is not new. Ozil merely describes what many people with a migrant background have always thought and how they have always felt. It is not new, but it has now been put into words by someone who has a broad audience beyond German borders. The whole world is suddenly discussing the inner life of Muslims in general and German Muslims with Turkish migration background in Germany:
"I am German, if we win, if we lose, I am an immigrant"
In Germany and Europe, we have been experiencing increasing xenophobia for many years, which is particularly evident when it comes to Muslim communities. Muslims are in the public spotlight like no other community in Europe. In public disputes, they are often portrayed as a supposedly backward, unenlightened, uneducated, and violent group to be feared.
Numerous studies have already investigated and revealed the negative consequences of these public debates. As it stands, many people are afraid of Muslims, avoiding any contact if they can. And these are not only people from the political far right, but rather even ordinary people from the modest centre.
In daily life, people experience the effects in almost all walks of life. They are disadvantaged in their search for work and housing, and are not allowed to wear headscarves in public due to legal regulations in some federal states.
It is not uncommon that Islamophobia manifests itself through violent and criminal acts targeting Muslims, especially those speaking for a peaceful coexistence. The rejection of people of Muslims has reached a point where there are no longer even given any expressions of solidarity when arson attacks are carried out on mosques or when women are attacked on the street for wearing a headscarf.
The extent of the rejection of Muslims can now be seen even in the reception of refugees, the majority of whom also come from Muslim-majority countries. According to a representative survey, German society would be more receptive if refugees in general are from a different belief.
It looks as if there will be no resignation on the part of the German Football Association. In a statement, DFB President Reinhard Grindel admitted mistakes in dealing with the case, but he does not speak of personal or professional consequences.
This also reinforces the fatal impression among ethnic and religious minorities that everything is not so bad, because in the end 'it's all about a Turk'.
Despite the adversity, we must not bury our heads in the sand. Ozil's case has only brought something to light, made something visible. We can see this as an opportunity and finally have an open and honest debate on racism in Germany and Europe.
We can transform indignation at the way Ozil is treated into energy and discuss together how it was possible to elect an extreme right-wing party like the AfD in Germany to the Bundestag and why right-wing extremists sit in almost all parliaments throughout Europe.
We can also use this opportunity to question ourselves. For example, we can ask ourselves whether and what mistakes we Muslims have made that Islamophobia could increase so much. Self-reflection and self-criticism are virtues and signs of strength, not weakness. We can use this opportunity to get into conversation with our neighbours, friends and all the other people around us.
For us Muslims in Germany and Europe, there is no alternative to this dispute. We must have discussions, demand debates and, over and over again, oppose all forms of racism. For us, the fight against xenophobia and anti-Muslim racism is without alternatives simply because we live in Europe, are rooted, and see our future here. The romantic idea of Muslims of Turkish origin fifty or sixty years ago who went to make and save some money to only go back to Turkey, no longer exists.
It must therefore be our goal to struggle for a diverse and pluralistic society until everyone, regardless of their origin, language, colour or religion, can live on an equal footing and free of discrimination - regardless of whether they see themselves as Muslims, Christians, Jews, Turks, Germans or German-Turks.
MESUT OZIL CITES 'RACISM AND DISRESPECT' AS HE QUITS GERMANY
Football star felt he was singled out as scapegoat for World Cup exit due to Turkish heritage and Erdogan meeting.
Mesut Ozil has announced his retirement from international football, hitting out at the "racist" and "disrespectful" treatment he received in the wake of his meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Germany's early World Cup exit.
The Arsenal star, who has Turkish ancestry, made the announcement on Sunday in a lengthy statement he posted on his Twitter account. The 29-year-old attacking midfielder, who was part of the German squad that exited the 2018 World Cup at the group stage, felt he was singled out as a scapegoat for the failure due to his Turkish heritage and the Erdogan meeting in May.

"It is with a heavy heart and after much consideration that because of recent events, I will no longer be playing for Germany at international level whilst I have this feeling of racism and disrespect," Ozil said. "The treatment I have received from the DFB [German Football Association] and many others makes me no longer want to wear the German national team shirt," he added.
"People with racially discriminative backgrounds should not be allowed to work in the largest football federation in the world that has players from dual-heritage families. Attitudes like theirs simply do not reflect the players they supposedly represent."

Ozil said he could not accept "German media outlets repeatedly blaming my dual-heritage and a simple picture for a bad World Cup on behalf of an entire squad".
He added: "I am German when we win, but an immigrant when we lose."
Ozil earned 92 caps for Germany since his debut in 2009. He was a key member of the country's 2014 World Cup-winning side.
"This decision has been extremely difficult to make because I've always given everything for my teammates ... but when high-ranking DFB officials treat me as they did, disrespect my Turkish roots and selfishly turn me into political propaganda, then enough is enough," he wrote.
"That is not why I play football, and I will not sit back and do nothing about it. Racism should never, ever, be accepted."

Ozil drew criticism at home after his meeting in Erdogan. He and Ilkay Gundogan - a teammate also of Turkish descent who likewise posed with Erdogan - were jeered in warm-up games before the World Cup in Russia. In his statement on Sunday, Ozil said if he had not met the Turkish president, he would have been "disrespecting the roots of my ancestors".

"For me having a picture with President Erdogan wasn't about politics or elections, it was about me respecting the highest office of my family's country," he said. The Arsenal midfielder also said that he was loyal to both his Turkish and German origins and insisted he did not intend to make a political statement.
"Like many people, my ancestry traces back to more than one country. Whilst I grew up in Germany, my family background has its roots firmly based in Turkey," he said. "I have two hearts, one German and one Turkish."

Relations between Germany and Turkey have soured amid a crackdown by Erdogan's government on suspected supporters of a failed military coup in July 2016.
"My job is a football player and not a politician, and our meeting was not an endorsement of any policies," Ozil said.
"I get that this may be hard to understand, as in most cultures the political leader cannot be thought of as being separate from the person. But in this case it is different. Whatever the outcome would've been in this previous election, or the election before that, I would have still taken the picture."
BERLIN AND ANKARA TRADE BARBS OVER OZIL GUNDOGAN ERDOGAN MEETING
Official accuses Germany of 'Erdoganphobia' as football federation says president used players in election campaign.

A senior Turkish official has slammed the German football federation, media and several politicians after they criticised two German players of Turkish descent who met Turkey's President Recep Tayyip Erdogan as he seeks re-election. Erdogan met Arsenal's Mesut Ozil and Manchester City's Ilkay Gundogan during an official visit to the United Kingdom. Both also play for the German national team. Turkey's striker Cenk Tosun was also at the gathering.
Photos taken in London show the players handing jerseys to the Turkish president and were published on social media on Monday by Erdogan's ruling Justice and Development Party (AK Party).
One image shows the wording on Gundogan's jersey, which reads: "With respect for my president".
Reinhard Grindel, president of the German football federation DFB, accused the players in a series of tweets of being manipulated by Erdogan's election campaign."DFB, of course, respects the special situation of our players with a migration background. But football and the DFB stand for values that are not sufficiently respected by Mr Erdogan," Grindel said.
"That is why it is not good for our national players to be abused by his campaign manoeuvres. Our two players certainly did not help the integration work of DFB with this action."
'Erdoganphobia'
Erdogan and his party are campaigning for the presidential and parliamentary elections on June 24. Yasin Aktay, a senior Erdogan adviser, called the reaction to the photos a new example of "Erdoganphobia" that is flourishing in Germany - in addition to "Islamophobia".
"He is the publicly elected president of Turkey. He represents the whole of the Turkish public in that position. This reaction shows that German authorities have an irrational fanaticism against Erdogan," Aktay told Al Jazeera.
Mesut Ozil, Ilkay Gundogan and Cenk Tosun welcomed Turkey president Recep Tayyip Erdogan to London — and gave him signed shirts from their respective clubs as a gift.
AK Parti
He criticised Germany by making an apparent reference to dissident Turkish journalist. Dundar's meeting with German President Joachim Gauck late last year. "German authorities casually meet and pose with a person who is accused of espionage in Turkey as the German president did," he said. "Conversely, German officials and politicians condemn Turkish German football players for posing in photos with their president as a result of nothing but natural emotions." Aktay also stressed that Erdogan, who is a former football player, met the players in a personal capacity and the meeting had nothing to do with the June elections.
Many strains
Dundar, who currently resides in Germany, was sentenced in Turkey for revealing state secrets after his newspaper, Cumhuriyet, published a story about Turkish intelligence vehicles allegedly carrying weapons to rebels in Syria in 2015. Dundar is one of many strains in the relations between Berlin and Ankara. Turkish and German officials have been in a war of words in recent years. Ankara accuses Berlin of supporting "terrorism", while Germany has denounced the deterioration of democratic and human rights in Turkey. The Turkish government says Germany supports the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), which has been waging war against the Turkish state since the 1980s.
'Gross foul'
Sevim Dagdelen, deputy chairperson of the Left Party parliamentary group in Germany, said all national team players have to be role models and should stand for fair play, not just on the pitch. "Them courting Erdogan as their president while Turkey persecutes democrats and journalists is a gross foul," said Dagdelen. Cem Ozdemir, Green Party co-leader, tweeted: "It is distasteful and embarrassing for football millionaires to be homage for [Erdogan's] election campaign." In an editorial, the national Bild newspaper called the players "political idiots, but football geniuses". "If you have a moral position, you don't laugh into the camera with Erdogan," it said, though it refuted calls to kick the players off the national team.
Germany and other Western European governments have repeatedly condemned the Turkish government's detentions and purges of tens of thousands of people after a failed coup attempt in July 2016. Erdogan's government says the crackdown follows the rule of law and aims to remove coup supporters from state institutions and other parts of society.

ENOUGH IS ENOUGH
MUSLIMS MUST UNITE AND RESPOND TO THIS GLOBALLY -
ONE WORLD COEXISTENCE OR NO WORLD EXISTS
ISLAMOPHOBIA NOW OFFICIAL US POLICY
US Supreme Court legalizes “Muslim ban”
Kevin Barrett
In upholding US President Donald Trump’s “Muslim ban” — originally conceived as “a total and complete shutdown of Muslims entering the United States” — the Supreme Court of the United States has effectively eliminated the First Amendment to the Constitution, and made Islamophobia official US policy. Alongside Trump’s move of the US embassy to colonized Jerusalem (al-Quds), the Supreme Court’s rubber-stamping of the “Muslim ban” makes it unmistakably clear that the US government is now on record as a mortal enemy of Islam and Muslims, and of religious freedom in general.
Justice Sonia Sotomayor, in her dissent, belabored the obvious, “Taking all the relevant evidence together, a reasonable observer would conclude that the Proclamation was driven primarily by anti-Muslim animus.” The “relevant evidence” includes Trump’s initial statement calling for the exclusion of “all Muslims” from the US, and a long series of statements and tweets conveying the same, arguably genocidal intent (the First Amendment of the US Constitution mandates absolute religious neutrality on the part of the government).
Chief (in)Justice John Roberts, writing for the majority, approvingly noted Trump’s deceptive inclusion of two non-Muslim-majority nations, North Korea and Venezuela, in the latest version of the travel ban — alongside Muslim-majority Iran, Libya, Somalia, Syria, and Yemen. Roberts found that the relevant issue was not presidential intent, but rather the president’s power to do just about anything he wants in the name of “national security” (if the Founding Fathers of the USA were in power today, they would execute Roberts for treason, for the Constitution explicitly defines the US as a Republic, the diametric opposite of a monarchy in which the King has unlimited “national security” powers).
Roberts further argued that Trump’s alleged national security concerns regarding travelers from the seven targeted countries were legitimate. That argument is absurd on its face. There is no evidence that any immigrant or visitor from any of the seven named countries has ever threatened American national security in any way. Nor did Trump even try to present any actual evidence for that thesis.
So how could Roberts uphold Trump’s ridiculous “national security” pretext? Apparently Roberts accepted the empty propaganda bromide that the US is fighting a “war on terror” because “terrorism” threatens “national security.” The seven targeted countries, according to Roberts, might present “threat of terrorism” despite the complete absence of actual evidence that this is the case. In other words, the myth of the “war on terror” completely annihilated any reference to empirical reality in the mind of the Chief Justice of the United States.
Had the Chief Justice bothered to look at the evidence, he would have learned that America faces no statistically significant threat from terrorism, and even less of a threat from terrorists who claim to be Muslim. All terrorist attacks taken together, including such false flag events as 9/11 and the Boston bombing, rank far below lightning strikes and bathtub drownings as threats to Americans. And Muslims are blamed (whether accurately or not) for only 6% of terrorist attacks in America, according to the FBI. As for the seven countries on Trump’s list, not one terrorist event in America has ever been attributed to anyone from any of those countries! It seems Trump and Roberts are living in a paranoid fantasy with no reference to reality.
There is, of course, no actual “war on terror.” Terrorism, which is defined as “intentionally targeting civilians to incite fear,” is a military tactic. One cannot fight a war against a military tactic.
Moreover, it is national armies and their corporate and paramilitary allies, not insurgent fighters, who commit more than 99.9% of all terrorism. According to Vltchek and Chomsky’s On Western Terrorism, the US has murdered approximately 60 million people worldwide, almost all civilians, in CIA and military incursions since WWII. That makes the USA the world’s biggest terrorist.
Per capita, the world’s worst terrorist nation is Israel. That small nation of eight million people “raised terrorism to the level of a sacred principle” according to Moshe Sharett, foreign minister from 1948–1956 and prime minister from 1954–1955. Sharett blamed Israel’s devotion to terrorism on
Ben Gurion, Pinhas Levon, Moshe Dayan, Shimon Peres, and the rest of the dominant faction of Zionist leaders, who wanted “to set the Middle East on fire” and “to frighten the West into supporting Israel’s aims.” For details on Israel’s history as the world’s worst-ever terror state, see Thomas Suarez’s book State of Terror: How Terrorism Created Modern Israel; and for evidence that Israel is by far the world’s worst perpetrator of political assassinations, see Ronen Bergman’s Rise and Kill First: The Secret History of Israel’s Targeted Assassinations.
So given that the US, Israel, and their allies are the worst terrorist nations; and that Venezuela, North Korea, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Syria, and Yemen have nothing to do with terrorism inside the US, which is a statistically insignificant non-threat anyway, why in the world did Trump select these seven countries for his “Muslim ban”?
Obviously the “Muslim ban” was a political ploy. Trump got elected by playing the Islamophobia card and pandering to ordinary Americans. They were brainwashed by 9/11 propaganda, “the most successful and most perverse publicity stunt in the history of public relations” according to National Medal of Science winner Lynn Margulis. Following the neocon-Zionist-orchestrated PR stunt on 9/11/2001, roughly half the US population suffered from clinical Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) according to research cited by Martha Stout in The Paranoia Switch. Lingering PTSD from 9/11 is the one and only significant causal factor behind the ongoing wave of Islamophobia in the US, and Trump rode that wave into the White House.
So why were these particular seven countries targeted by Trump’s Islamophobic ploy? Ironically, the one thing that Venezuela, North Korea, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Syria, and Yemen have in common is that they are all victims of massive US-sponsored terrorism! Venezuela is under attack by US and Colombian trained terrorists seeking to destabilize the country and overthrow the democratically elected government of Nicolas Maduro. North Korea has lost many millions of people to US bombs and bioterrorism. Iran has lost 17,000 innocent civilians to terror attacks by such groups as the MKO, the darling of the Trump Administration. Libya lost tens, perhaps hundreds of thousands after American terrorists bombed civilian infrastructure, destroyed the government, murdered President Muammar al-Qadhdhafi, and essentially annihilated the country. Somalia has likewise been massively degraded since the US sent in proxy terrorists from Ethiopia and other puppet nations to destroy that country, just when it had finally stabilized under the Islamic Courts Union. Syria has seen nearly half a million killed and millions of lives destroyed by US-backed terrorists on a Zionist-American regime change mission. And many tens of thousands of Yemenis have been murdered by US-armed Saudi terrorists.
Bottom line: Trump and Roberts are leaders of the world’s biggest terrorist group, the so-called US government. They and others like them — not the innocent people of nations victimized by American terrorism — would be the real targets of any real war on terror.

IT IS MYOPIC AND FALSE TO ARGUE AND BELIEVE THAT ISLAMOPHOBIA IS RESTRICTED AND A MONOPOLY OF THE WEST. THIS IS THE REASON WHY THIS THREAD IS BEING CHANGED AND BILLED AS HOW GLOBAL ANTI-MUSLIM BIGOTRY BECAME ACCEPTABLE. WE WILL EXPLORE ITS GLOBAL MANIFESTATION TO UNDERSTAND EXACTLY IT'S SCOPE AND EXTENT AND HOW IT CAN AND WILL BE DECONSTRUCTED. THAT IS WHY THE WORK OF GLOBAL VISION 2000 FOCUSSES ON THE RE-ESTABLISHMENT OF UNIVERSAL ISLAMIC ECONOMIC VALUES ESPECIALLY ON MORAL POLITICAL ECONOMY AND ESPECIALLY UNIVERSAL ECONOMIC JUSTICE WHERE ISLAM IS VIEWED AS A SOLUTION RATHER THAN AS A PROBLEM FOR ALL OF HUMANITY. THAT IS WHY GLOBALLY ISLAM IS BEING DEMONISED. IT IS ABSOLUTELY VITAL TO ARTICULATE THAT THE CRISIS OF NEOLIBERAL FINANCIAL USURIOUS DESTRUCTIVE GLOBAL CAPITALISM AND SECULAR FUNDAMENTALISM CAN ONLY BE DEALT WITH BY ISLAM. THE TIME TO HIGHLIGHT THIS HAS COME AND WILL BE DISCUSSED IN THE EDITORIAL THREAD.
BJP LEADERS PUBLICLY PROMOTING HINDU SUPREMACY
Rights group says Hindu supremacy promoted by India's ruling BJP party, which encouraged violence against Muslims
https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2018/01/h...02152.html
- Members of India's ruling party have publicly promoted Hindu supremacy, which has led to attacks against Muslims and other minorities, Human Rights Watch claims.
Meanwhile, the government failed to prevent or promptly investigate attacks against victims, the group said on Thursday in its report on human rights in 2017. "The government failed to promptly or credibly investigate the attacks, while many senior BJP leaders publicly promoted Hindu supremacy and ultra-nationalism, which encouraged further violence," the group said.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is India's ruling right-wing party, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi "Indian authorities have proven themselves unwilling to protect minority religious communities and other vulnerable groups from frequent attack," said Meenakshi Ganguly, HRW's South Asia director, in a statement. "There needs to be a serious effort to prevent future attacks and to prosecute all those responsible for the violence," she said.
HRW said there were at least 38 attacks against Muslims and other minority communities over the trade or slaughter of cows for beef in 2017. At least 10 people were killed.
The lynching that changed India
Instead of punishing attackers, police officials often filed complaints against the victims under laws banning cow slaughter, the rights group said. India's Hindu majority regard the cow as holy, and slaughtering the animal is banned in several states. Since the BJP came to power in 2014, mob violence and lynchings against Muslims and Dalits have increased.
'Cow vigilantes'
In May 2017, two Muslim men suspected of stealing cows died after being attacked by villagers in the northeastern state of Assam, according to local police. In June, about 20 men beat four Muslims on a train in the outskirts of the capital, New Delhi, fatally stabbing a teenager and seriously injuring two others.
Mohammed Akhlaque was beaten to death in Uttar Pradesh in September 2015 over rumours that he had slaughtered a cow. His brother Jan Mohammed is also accused in a cow slaughtering case registered by the state police. He expressed little optimism over receiving a verdict in the near future, but said "the courts were their last bastion of hope". "Doesn't look like anything will change in 2018," Mohammed told Al Jazeera. "My brother was murdered in September 2015, he added. "Charges in that case have not yet been framed." "At this speed, the verdict will be pronounced in 30 years?"
'Failed the constitution'
Critics accuse far-right Hindu groups, some linked to the BJP, of fomenting violence against Muslims and lower-caste Hindus who eat beef or work in the meat and leather industries. PM Modi denies the accusation and has publicly criticised so-called cow vigilantes. Shabnam Hashmi, an activist at Act Now for Harmony and Democracy, a New Delhi-based human rights group, said she agreed with HRW's observations. "The government has not just failed the minorities, it has failed the Indian constitution," she told Al Jazeera.
"The government is tacitly conniving in the anti-minority acts that's going on in the country today. It's open connivance. "I have no hopes from this government. One only hopes that the people of this country will rise and defeat them."
