In the first film, the romance between Tessa (Josephine Langford) and Hardin (Hiro Fiennes-Tiffin) ended: the girl found out that her boyfriend started Dating her on a bet. Reassuring her that he'd really fallen in love with her later didn't help, so Tessa left. In the second part, the lovers changed places: the University macho and cynic Hardin writes his beloved a hundred TEXTS a day, and Tessa stopped being a good girl.
